Rheinmetall Defence Australia – Weapons Test Fire Range (WTFR)

BOUW has supported RDA’s Boxer CRV manufacturing and test facility at Redbank in Queensland through both the initial commissioning and certification of the fully ballistically and acoustically enclosed WTFR, and provision of Range Safety and Emergency Response operations where each vehicle’s main and coaxial armaments are live fire “Factory Acceptance Tested” for function and accuracy prior to delivery to the Commonwealth. BOUW’s specialist trained operatives also carried out decontamination activities in the range’s ventilation system as part of a maintenance and upgrade program.

BOUW assembled and trained a specialist team to be able to respond at short notice to RDA’s requirements for testing to keep the supply of the vehicles flowing to the Commonwealth. BOUW provided mission critical support in the areas of:

  • Range certification and authorities’ approvals
  • Range Safety Operations
  • Range Safety Officer
  • Fully trained and accredited Emergency Response Team (ERT)
  • Range Maintenance

BOUW is proud to play a small but essential role in RDA’s supply of this critical capability to the Australian Army Land 400 Project.
